Kathleen L. Crotty was raised in the Daytona Beach area.
After graduating from Seabreeze High School,
she attended Jacksonville University where she received
a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. While in college she
served as Treasurer of Alpha Delta Pi, the President of
Jacksonville University Host & Hostesses, the Treasurer
for Rho Lamda, the Vice-President of the Association of
Women's Students, was a member of the Green Key
Honorary Leadership Society and was recognized as a
Who's Who Among Students of American Universities
and Colleges.
Kathleen subsequently attended the University of Florida Business School where she received a Master's of Business Degree in Finance. Kathleen then joined the firm of Price Waterhouse as a senior accountant. While employed at Price Waterhouse she earned her certification as a Certified Public Accountant.
In 1990, Kathleen returned to the University of Florida to attend law school. While in law school she served as the tax editor of the UF Law Review, was inducted into the Order of the Coif and received the Alumni Scholarship Award at her graduation in 1992.
Kathleen returned to Daytona Beach and began practicing law at Black, Crotty, Sims, Hubka, Burnett, Bartlett, Birch & Samuels, where Kathleen's father, E. William Crotty, was the founding partner. She left Black, Crotty & Sims in 1999 to form Crotty & Batlett, P.A. where she is a partner.
The current Chairperson of the United Way Foundation Board, she has also chaired the By-laws Committee and the Herbert M. Davidson Award Committee. She has served on the Board of St. James Episcopal School as well as being the President of the Parent/Teacher Organization. She has been on the Board of Counselors for Bethune Cookman College since 1992 and was Chairperson of the organization in 1999. She served on the Florida Bar Fee Arbitration Committee in 2000. In 2005, Kathleen was specially recognized by the United Way Foundation for service to the community.
Kathleen has served on numerous other charitable boards, among them the Guild of Florida International Festival, the Stetson Business School Foundation Board of Directors, the Rotary Club, and Easter Seals. In addition, she currently serves on the Checkered Flag Committee with Daytona International Speedway wherein she volunteers to help promote the Speedway to those visiting the Daytona Beach area.
